Radio Shows
Since 1996, Genevieve Chornenki has periodically contributed to IDEAS, a radio documentary show concerning contemporary issues on CBC Radio One. IDEAS has been running since 1965 when it premiered under the title "The Best Ideas You'll Hear Tonight".
What follows are the written descriptions of Genevieve's shows from the CBC IDEAS catalogue. CD's and/or transcripts of these shows may be obtained by clicking here.
- The Trouble with Tolerance (2007) CD $34.00, 3 hours. We rant, debate, and we're full of opinions: Is Canada too tolerant for its own good? Should we tolerate intolerant people? What are the limits to tolerance? In this 3-hour series, philosopher Michael Blake, mediator Genevieve Chornenki, journalist Sunny Yi and IDEAS producer Sara Wolch, tackle the nature and meaning of tolerance in a diverse and seemingly tolerant society.
- Changing the Workplace (2002) Transcript $8.00, CD $18.00. Change is a corporate compulsion touching employees at all levels. Genevieve Chornenki examines what makes change so compelling and discovers why so many deliberate change initiatives fail.
- Dispute Resolution (1996) Transcript $14.00, CD $26.00, 2 hours. Increasingly Canadians are bypassing the courts in order to resolve their disputes through mediation. Genevieve Chornenki and IDEAS producer Sara Wolch discuss the ideas behind the techniques of dispute resolution. And we follow a dramatic confrontation between a chartered bank and one of its customers, mediated by Mary Satterfield.
